This research unit is usually taught in the early spring. It is part of the state assessment regime. Individual student scores are not compiled or reported. However the final research paper is graded for social studies class.
Identify two cultures faced with similar challenges: In our class, we compare the Geeks of the classical period and the Inca. Describe two challenges faced by both groups: Possible choices include geographical challenges(mountainous terrain), medical issues (epidemics), natural disasters (earthquakes), and political threats (invasions, governmental structures). Describe how each culture dealt with these two challenges. Finally, make a judgement. Which culture do you think did a better job meeting the challenges it faced. Give supporting evidence for WHY you choose the culture you do.
